Research project funded by the Regione Piemonte (Italy) and promoted through the Piedmont's aerospace district promoter board. It is also co-funded by European Regional Development Fund (E.R.D.F.) within the Regional Operative Program 2007/2013.
SMAT is led by Alenia Aeronautica S.p.A., with the major goal of developing an advanced civilian system for land monitoring. The final system will deploy a small fleet of UAVs and will represent an important infrastructure for emergency management in case of flood hazards, mudslides or fire in wooded remote areas. The NavSAS group supported the activities related to GNSS and fostered, through real measurements, the use of GPS+Galileo software radio receivers on board of the next generation of UAVs.
