GINESTRA (2013)

GINESTRA is a competence survey focused on Asia-Pacific Region and India. Its goal was to assess the current capabilities on ionospheric monitoring in the Region, in order to understand how existing facilities can be integrated with new installations to effectively support and improve space weather activities oriented to assist GNSS operations.

GINESTRA partners represent a team of excellence, incorporating proved ionospheric theoretical know-how and technological background, especially in the field of GNSS. The team gathers researchers from: Istituto Superiore Mario Boella (Italy); Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (Italy); Politecnico di Torino (Italy); Hanoi University of Science and Technology (Vietnam). GINESTRA is one of the four competence survey funded by the Alcantara Initiative: Ionosphere Ground-based Monitoring in Low-latitude by the European Space Agency. ISMB was the project coordinator and, as such, responsible for the preparation of project deliverables. In addition, ISMB was responsible for the Task 1,  where ISMB researchers  coordinated the competence review, prepared and distributed questionnaires to experts and organised the workshop in Hanoi. As for Task 2, ISMB has contributed in the preparation of the research plan and identification of potential local partners.
